Henry Laurens and Southern Enlightenment in Revolutionary America
I attach my comments on your last draft. It has taken me much longer to get through these that I thought it would last week, so forget the schedule I gave in my previous message. What you have to do right now is come up with a more specific proposal on exactly what problem you are looking at and how you are going to solve it. You do not need to write nearly as much as you have--two pages will do nicely if you can identify an issue concerning Henry Laurens and the Enlightenment which lends itself to investigation. It is not clear from the information you have presented so far what question you are asking. In any case, feel free to try out ideas with me any time this week. I would like you to write a new draft and send it to me some time before the workshop meets next Thursday so I can comment on it more intelligently when you present it.
