Bank of Virginia Online Banking – Personal Banking and Business Banking
I’ve been banking online for more than ten years and witness the rise of internet banking since the past ten years. In the past ten years, I have four bank cards that I do business with and two of the four are completely online, one of them is Bank of Virginia.
Why Bank of Virginia?
Comparing with other commercial banks, one of the best things Bank of Virginia has going for it is their interest rate of 4.25% with no fees, no minimum balance or service charges on their Savings Account. Besides Bank of Virginia savings account, Bank of Virginia also offers CDs, mortgages, home equity lines of credit and an investment account. I currently only participate in the savings account, however, I am going to consider to open a CD in the near future.
Open a Checking or Saving Account at Bank of Virginia
So far as I know, if you want to open an account with Bank of Virginia, it is very easy. Take myself as an example, I filled out a short application, linked the new account to my existing checking account, agreed to their terms, and made a small deposit from my checking account into my new Bank of Virginia Savings Account.

Once the account was set up, Bank of Virginia made two small deposits into my checking account for me to confirm. This step is a security measure they use to determine ownership of the linked checking account. After all, only I could know the amounts I deposited at Bank of Virginia. Otherwise, my banking secrets will be exposed to others.

Doing business online with Bank of Virginia is very convenient, what I should do is just login with my online banking ID and password via its official website. Sometimes, when I visit its homepage, it asks me to pass some procedures before I can start my online banking services at Bank of Virginia. What I should do is to offer my customer number, a rotating list of personal identifiers, and finally enter my PIN and password through an encrypted keypad. Since the account is linked to my checking account, I can make transfers funds to and from Bank of Virginia to my other banking accounts.

Like other saving accounts I opened in other banks, I use the Bank of Virginia savings account for saving money as much as possible. I set up bimonthly transfers from my checking account to my saving account, just in order to accumulate money.

Since this is a savings rather than checking account, I must first transfer the money back into my checking account, however, with the help of Bank of Virginia online banking, it only takes me several minutes to complete.

I have done 100% of my business with Bank of Virginia via its internet banking and have been doing so for the past five years.
